Quebec is so quaint and has a great "old town" but it is tiny. Toronto Marriott had a nice fruit and nut tray for our 50th anniversay and Quebec's Victoria upgraded us to a suite. It captures the emotional heart of Montreal and its people, simply, cleverly and beautifully. Montreal was nice, but we loved Quebec City. If you're lucky or smart enough to be here in early spring, the region's many sugar shacks come alive with festivities, fun, and foods of every flavor—especially maple. The old stone citadel at Fort Chambly National Historic Sitebuilt inhosts interpretive programs and provides a glimpse of what life was like for the soldiers of New France.

He captured the domestic and political concerns of francophones in the second half of the 20th century. On your way to Saint-Roch, stop to admire the graffiti murals on the highway overpass, then head for a bistro dinner at Les Bossus. Enjoy unique sightseeing experiences and the insider detail that only Fresh Tracks Canada can provide. Don't recall exactly where we ate but of course we had the obligitory fondue in the old city.

Thank you so much for all your help. Luxury and exceptional service are the rule at this gem nestled among the lovely cobbled streets of Old Montreal. But I have a lot of friends who do it. The tours in both cities were interesting and informative. The Old City earned recognition as an official UNESCO World Heritage site inthanks largely to city planners who managed to update and preserve the year-old buildings and attractions without destroying what made them worth preserving.

Montreal & Quebec

The Montreal metro is super easy to use so you have a lot of flexibility as far as which neighborhood to stay in. Greg explained all the details, took time to customize my trip and walk me through from start to finish.

Your Trip to Montreal: The Complete Guide

In retrospect, it would have been much less expensive to not stay directly in the path of the horse carriages and the tourist-central area which is inside the walled city.

But the Laurentians are ripe for much wider exploration. This French-speaking capital city is the only walled city north of Mexico. The image created in his songs in my mind is of a St Laurent bon vivant and miscreant, living in cheap hotel rooms and writing poems in his underpants, a different beautiful and slightly mad girl in bed with him every night.

The Eastern Townships From Rougemont, the A leads east into Quebec's beloved Eastern Townships Les Cantons-de-l'Esta rolling region of farms, forests, and sparkling lakes that's an all-season escape for many citizens of Montreal.

The hotels also were very nice. Dive into the international restaurant scene of Montreal or discover the charm of its many urban parks. Those interested in a look below the Earth's surface after all that sky-watching can stop at Thetford Mines Mineralogy and Mining Museumwhich documents the local mining industry, explores regional geology, and showcases minerals from around the world.

Looking for more extensive coverage? A French counter attack saw a French victory at the Battle of Sainte-Foy 28 April but the subsequent second Siege of Quebec the following month however saw a final British victory.

It is in a great location, easily walkable to most sights. Everything was organized down to the last detail.

I found it almost unbelievable but every reservation and train ticket was perfect! Kitty-corner to the museum is Place Royale, the first public square in Ville-Marie. My husband and I remarked repeatedly that everything was well-planned and transitions from airport to hotel to train and back were smooth.

The most famous destination here is Mont-Tremblantsome 75 minutes from Rawdon, with its sprawling ski slopes, sparkling lake, and European-style walking village. This is why David Fennario called his play Balconville. Everything was so well taken care of that we didn't have to worry about any piece of the trip.Birnbaum's Montreal and Quebec City (Birnbaum's Travel Guides) on atlasbowling.com *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.
